It was a cold frosty January morning and the sun was just starting to offer some warmth, creating a great backlight. I had left Gatlinburg before daylight to get to Cades Cove for the early morning light. After a short hike with my tripod and cameras, I set up on a high point looking out over this view. Just as I sat down the deer walked right into the scene. They didn't mine me at all as they had their morning breakfast. I quickly became a part of the moment as I captured the beauty in front of me. Being in the moment is an important part of photography. Capturing your feelings and experiences always produces great storytelling images.
